Get 2 AA 1.2 volt rechargeably Ni Cad batteries from Radio Shack or wherever. Remove two screws to separate halves of Gizmo. Note the battery mounting slots on the mechanism half of the case. Remove old batteries and unplug connectors. Solder a jumper wire from the + of one new batt to the - of the other. Then solder the black wire connector from old batterey directly to the - of the unused batt terminal and the red wire connector to the + battery terminal. replace the battery in the case. But the bottom half in place and replace the two screws. I taped my batteries together with masking tape and tinned (put solder on)the battery terminals and wire connectors before soldering to them. I've done it twice on my Gizmo and it works fine.
