Whirlpool Freezer FREEZER

The fan unit in the top of my Whirlpool upright freezer seems to have stopped working. There is a lot of ice forming at the back of the fan unit. The compressor still seems to work all the time and maintains the temp at an indicated -12 but the internal temp of the freezer is actually -20 at the top and -10 at the bottom.

Any ideas?

    Should have said, the model number is AFG 8271 NF
