Bosch Appliances Dishwasher BOSCH DISHWASHER

burnt wiring on Bosch SHX46A06 Dishwasher
Posted by william.boudreaux on Aug 2nd, 2008 at 3:03pm

My Bosch dishwasher is about 2 1/2 years old. It has operated with no problems for 2.5 years. I tired to turn run it this week with no success. No lights on the door and no power to unit. I removed the toe panel to gain access to the electrical. I found the wiring had melted along with the wire nut on the black side and some on the white side. The black 12/2 just broke after having melted off from the wire nut. I used the existing awg 12/2 with ground that was attached to previous dishwasher. No additional appliances were added to the existing load. The directions from Bosch had called for 14/2 with ground. Could this be a problem? Could I have made a bad connection for the start? Any thoughts to what might have caused the problem. I have done lots of wiring in my home prior to this.
Thanks
Bill
