hose attachment to faucet

I am trying to find out how to hook this portable thing up to my kitchen faucet. Does it have to hook directly onto the threads? I have a the kind that snaps onto the faucet but I can't get it to fit and that's why I am wondering if it has to go directly onto the threaded part.
