Electrolux Electric Pressure Cooker Pressure Cooker 6000 AEG

The cooker works, but I am battling to get the float to rise in order to get it on high pressure cooking. I follow everything in the instructions to the letter and am sure I am not doing something wrong. It buids up pressure, but instead of starting to count down the minutes you have programmed it with it just builds pressure and then goes to "keep warm" mode immediatly. I understand the instructions.
