Just moved into house with this product. Unit appears clean and blades move freely, but when we switch it on it just "hums"

    Hi Pastor,
You say the "blades move freely." The blades are two right-angle shaped pieces of metal bolted to a circular plate which in turn is attached to the motor shaft. Does that plate on which they are mounted turn freely? (Check it with a wooden cooking spoon, not your hand!) If it does or does not turn regardless, look on the bottom of the unit (under the sink) - in the center is a slot into which you can insert a hex wrench - it's a standard size somewhere between 1/4" and 3/8" inch - don't know for certain at the moment. With that wrench, manually turn the motor a bit - and be sure the switch is OFF! If that gets the unit working again, good. If not, sounds like it's time to replace it. I have the same unit and was online looking for a manual... the spinner plate on mine has detached itself from the motor. Not sure how that happened since we hardly use it. God bless you as you (or He) fix this thing.
